Top 5 Things Buyers are Looking for Now

Buying

Buyers often change the criteria they are looking for in a new home. However, these 5 criteria have stayed consistent among a majority of the buyers I am working with for some time now. I'm always interested in seeing what has the greatest appeal. Enjoy!

1. Land

Buyers are looking for bigger parcels that give the home added privacy and enough space for gatherings. Land provides an outdoor oasis to the home and an opportunity to enjoy nature. At a minimum make sure you have a fully landscaped front yard. That should increase curb appeal, and get potential buyers to continue viewing the rest of your property.

2. Open Floor Plan

Buyers are looking at the kitchen, dining room, and living area and want to be able to have plenty of room for family and friends. This is the primary gathering place and an open floor plan generally has more natural lighting, space for furniture and leads to greater social interaction.

3. Master Bedroom / Bathroom / Walk-in-Closet

Having a spacious Master Bedroom can help any home to feel luxurious. A walk-in closet makes the room feel bigger and less cluttered. Buyers want a master bathroom with a large vanity, double sinks, and a separate tub and shower.

4. Updated & Finished

Most buyers are not looking for a project. They want the home to be move-in ready and an updated kitchen, bathroom, flooring and paint will make your home much more appealing. Finishing a basement and landscaping may be worth the time and effort.

5. Storage

Whether a home is big or small, lack of storage space can be a deal-breaker for many buyers. Storage space should be easily accessible throughout the home, yet not obvious. Potential buyers want to know they have space for much of their belongings to be tucked away and out of sight.
